Small town disability attorneys say, “Bring them on!”
Why did Wisconsin disability attorneys Don Chewning and Tim Geary sign up for the television and Internet marketing services from The Marketing Center for Social Security Law Practices? Because they wanted cases. Lots of cases.
And they have not been disappointed.
“When we met Nathan Chapman (founder of The Marketing Center) at a NOSSCR Conference, he promised he could make the phones ring,” said Don. “In fact, he crushed us with all the work they brought in.”
Don and Tim wouldn’t have it any other way.
Finding the Fast Track in Two Rivers, Wisconsin
Don’s legal career started with more promise than satisfaction. First in his law class. Clerking for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. From there he landed at a “high polish” criminal defense firm in Milwaukee, defending large-scale drug cases. The work was lucrative. Sometimes high profile. Unfortunately, he just didn’t like it that much.
After their first son was born, Don and his wife decided to start fresh. They left Milwaukee for the tiny town of Two Rivers where he bought a local law practice and office building. About six months later, Tim Geary joined him as a partner.
As part of his new law practice, Don inherited some Social Security disability cases. He loved this work. He went to a NOSSCR Conference to learn more, and began to wonder if he could focus his practice on disability law. But, with only 12,000 residents in Two Rivers, how could there be enough cases to make a living in just disability law?
That’s when he thought about using The Marketing Center’s services to expand his client base into surrounding counties and even the city of Green Bay – famed for its 2011 Super Bowl championship.
But, they wondered if they made the right decision. “We were scared,” Chewning admits. “We kept asking ourselves, ‘Did we make the right move?’”
Yes, It Works
Within a few months, Don and Tim had their answer. The call volume was so heavy they couldn’t respond fast enough. They hired more staff. They opened branch offices in Oshkosh and Green Bay. They installed customized software for disability practice management. Suddenly, stunningly, their lives were consumed in the new cases.
Within their first two years with The Marketing Center, Don and Tim have now transformed every aspect of their practice. Their total caseload has increased “several fold” and is still growing.
But they love it. They love the work. They love helping so many claimants. Oh, and the revenue doesn’t hurt either.
Easing Back on the Throttle
While Don and Tim were delighted with their outcome, The Marketing Center’s Nathan Chapman likes to point out it wasn’t the only option.
He explains. “If an attorney needs some more time to gear up a practice, we can lessen the number of commercials on the air. On the other hand, we love to present options to knock your socks off. Don and Tim said, ‘Bring it on!’”
Someday they will want to ease back. But until then, Don and Tim are loving every minute of managing their booming practice. “Interview us in five years,” said Tim. “Maybe then we’ll talk about our leisure time!”
